Asphalt & Concrete Restoration Projects
Asphalt pavement and on-grade concrete restoration and replacement can be accomplished in a variety of ways and for a variety of reasons. Among the most common reasons to undergo a project of this nature include dredging, burying utility lines, surface deterioration, fractures, cracking, potholes, substrate slippage, sumps, improper drainage and soil erosion.
Although Oftentimes issues pertaining to the deterioration of concrete and asphalt are due to natural processes atypical deterioration or an accelerated rate of deterioration can sometimes be symptomatic of underlying structural defects. Some of the conditional deficiencies that Structural Technologies has assisted with have been the identification and remediation of property drainage issues, insufficient substrates and (or) the erosion of load-bearing composts. In the event that these issues are not identified and accounted for during the design and development phase of the project, premature deterioration of the system is inevitable and will sabotage the effectiveness of the project while oftentimes not propagating until years after installation or restoration processes have been completed.
Structural Technologies, Inc. designs asphalt paving and concrete solutions for maximum durability and long-term survivability when exposed to heavy traffic, harsh weather conditions and abuse. In order to determine appropriate materials and design objectives, Structural Technologies performs a series of field tests and asphalt pavement including invasive core sampling operations to establish existing construction, stone base, and subsoil beneath the existing pavement for the purpose of developing project specifications. Surrounding slope and grade are accessed in conjunction with pre-existing property drainage and correlating components for additional analysis to provide any modifications to the pavement design and grade to be incorporated into the project specifications.
The initial survey and analysis of asphalt paved areas and on-grade concrete includes an assessment of existing drainage, substrate condition, interface with curbs and terminations against landscaping. The imposed load weights of vehicles and the frequency of exposure of the pavement to traffic are always incorporated into the design of the new pavement system. Properly designed pavement projects which exceed performance expectations combined with project monitoring ensure a durable and functional paving installation which can be cost-effectively maintained for many years.
